Migration from Intel to ARM architecture on macOS

Modified on Thu, 7 Sep, 2023 at 5:09 PM

Before undertaking any changes to your computer system, we strongly recommend developing and running a contingency plan that integrates a solid and reliable backup system.

Migrating, or manually copying products, from one computer system to another computer system will not work. Products must be installed through the Aquarius Desktop application.

To mitigate the erroneous behaviour you are experiencing, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Close all applications you are using, including the Aquarius Desktop application and your audio host (DAW or NLE).
  2. Delete the Acustica Audio framework.
  3. Move all plug-ins from the plug-in folder to a backup folder outside the plug-in folder. The plug-in folder should remain empty.
  4. Delete your audio host(s) (DAW or NLE) plug-in cache file(s)
  5. Reboot the computer.
  6. Start the Aquarius Desktop application and install a single Acustica audio product.
  7. Start your audio host (DAW or NLE) and check that the plug-in works correctly now.
NOTES:
  • If the first plug-in works correctly, close your audio host (DAW or NLE) and install another of your products.
  • Then, carefully check that all your Acustica Audio products are working correctly.
  • As soon as your Acustica Audio plug-ins are working correctly, recover from the backup of your other plug-ins one by one, and avoid demo, corrupted, and outdated plug-ins.

IMPORTANT:

  • Old product versions or products with an NUW (Nebula Universal Wrapper) version below version 2.3.2 will not work on ARM OSs (operating systems) as macOS 12.
  • Only macOS 12 compatible products will work on macOS 12 (Monterey) OS (operating system).
  • Case-sensitive file systems are not supported.
  • Non-genuine Apple devices are not supported.
