Although the maximum number of characters allowed in a plug-in name can vary by format, and may technically support up to 128 characters, most Audio hosts (DAW or NLE) display a much shorter name. For instance, Pro Tools only shows up to 31 characters in its menus. To ensure consistent and readable names across all platforms, we’ve limited our plug-in names to a maximum of 20 characters.
Each Acustica Audio plug-in name is carefully structured to help you quickly identify what you’re using. The name consists of four key parts:
- Product name and product version.
- Processing or effect type.
- Commercial or trial type.
- Instance mode.
For example, we disassemble the Gold version 5 Equalizer Trial Zero Latency or GOLD5EQTZL.
- Product name and product version: GOLD5, or Gold version 5.
- Processing or effect type: GOLDEQ, which means Gold version 5 Equalizer.
- Commercial or trial type: GOLD5EQT, which means Gold version 5 Equalizer Trial.
- Instance mode: GOLD5EQTZL, which means Gold version 5 Equalizer Trial Zero Latency.
Notes:
- Product version one will not include the number 1 in the name.
- Commercial products will not include the C.
- Non-zero latency instance will not include NOZL in the name.
