The A/B plug-in states comparison feature is a powerful tool that lets you compare two distinct plug-in configurations simultaneously while the plug-in is running in your audio host (DAW or NLE) session. This feature helps you make decisions by evaluating how different settings affect the sound immediately, enabling you to make quick adjustments and optimizations. However, there are certain limitations to keep in mind when using this feature.

- Configuration limits: You can only compare two groups of parameters at a time. If you need to evaluate more than two plug-in states, you will have to conduct multiple comparisons sequentially.
- Temporary changes: Parameter comparisons between A and B states exist temporarily, with only the final state being saved in your audio host (DAW or NLE) session file. When the plug-in operates in state B, and you reload the session, those state parameters will load into state A while state B is cleared. This behavior stems from a standard convention across all three plug-in development formats (VST3, AAX, and AU), rather than being an Acqua Effect plug-in or Acustica Audio NUB (or Nuebula Universal Browser) limitation. To preserve any currently inactive state, you should save it through the preset manager before closing your session. This behavior can also be observed when the plug-in is copied, but both states (A and B) remain active only when the plug-in is moved within the audio host (DAW or NLE) mixing console's channels.
- Performance impact: Running the A/B comparison may affect the audio host (DAW or NLE) performance, especially if the configurations include resource-intensive settings.
