Alternative paths for the Aquarius Desktop Stage Area in macOS 10.14 or superior

Modified on Wed, 16 Jun 2021 at 03:50 PM

Given the new security rules applied by Apple on macOS 10.14 or higher operating systems, there are several protected folders in macOS Mojave not allowed for the Aquarius Desktop application stage area, Acqua Effect files, Nebula files, and in addition to any audio plug-in files.

Not allowed paths on macOS 10.14 and 10.15 (or superior):

  • Documents folder (any user).
  • Downloads folder (any user).
  • Desktop folder (any user).
  • Bin folder (any user).
  • Removable media (any user).
  • External drive(s) (any user).
  • Apple iCloud drive (any user).
  • Any 3rd party cloud storage providers (for example: Dropbox, Drive, Box, AWS, OneDrive).

We recommend to use the Helper Tool and the computer user should verify that the Aquarius Helper Tool is correctly installed with the correct writer permissions in the operating system settings. To do this, go macOS system preferences, and then to security & privacy, and then to the privacy tab. The Aquarius Helper Tool should have full disk access permission, in this case, external drives can be used.
