The Aquarius Desktop application will use the Stage Area to download and decompress the product files before installing them. This means that the Aquarius Desktop application stage area serves as a backup and temporary installation area, but this also means that you need to have three times the space that the final product will need, that is, backup, temporary files, and product installation in the destination plug-in folder. Keep in mind that temporary files are deleted after each successful installation but not the downloaded files so you can consider your Aquarius Desktop application Stage Area as a reliable backup.


If you want to use an external drive with more free space or a portable medium to share the information with other computers, what you should do is change the Aquarius Desktop application stage area path in the Aquarius settings:

  1. Log-in on the Aquarius Desktop application.
  2. Go to the Aquarius settings icon.
  3. Go installation tab.
  4. Edit the stage area path
  5. Click on save.

Keep in mind that the new drive file system format and permissions should be correct to let the Aquarius Desktop application create the temporary files and then proceed to the installation, if it is not, the Aquarius Desktop application will fail and you will see an error pop-up window.
