Understanding the engine types in Aquarius Desktop

Modified on Wed, 09 Aug 2023 at 05:11 PM

The engine type allows you to select the type of engine to be installed with each product using the Aquarius Desktop application (ADA); however, in 99.9% of the cases, the standard engine will be the most suitable, but in some particular cases, it is necessary to use the troubleshooting engine or the legacy engine.

To change the engine type, go to the configuration icon on the Aquarius Desktop application and then to the installation tab; at the top, you will find engine types, select the engine type you want and click on save.

IMPORTANT: selecting the wrong engine type for your operating system can cause your products to malfunction. Use this feature carefully.

  • Standard engine: Useful in 99.9% of cases and is the default configuration. An updated version of the VSTGUI will be installed.
  • Legacy engine: Use this engine when you are testing or debugging the compatibility with obsolete or deprecated operating systems. The obsolete VSTGUI version 3.00 will be installed. Please, use this engine type carefully.
  • Troubleshooting engine: Use this engine when testing or debugging the compatibility with new operating systems or new CPU architectures not officially supported. The legacy VSTGUI version 4.00 will be installed. Please, use this engine type carefully.
